salonsolids is a care brand from Seattle. It began in 2012 with the first solid-to-liquid hair care: a patented, water-soluble formula a decade in the making. The granules are made from 100% plant-based, organic ingredients, with no sulfates or sulfate substitutes, no soap, no petrochemicals, no synthetic fragrance and no preservatives.
A shampoo bar is a solid version of a liquid. salonsolids is different: the granules become the liquid. Mix the granules with 2 oz of hot water in the glass jar and you have shampoo, conditioner or styler. Nothing liquid ships, so nothing needs a plastic bottle.
Each packet is compostable. You choose the scent from essential-oil blends, or Unscented, and you can mix with tea or add an oil to make the formula your own.
Inventor
Sarah Balzotti McCoy is the inventor of the first solid-to-liquid hair care, patented and in use since 2012. A stylist and salon owner by trade, she wanted plant-based products she could trust for her clients and kept finding petrochemicals behind the labels. So she made her own.
Sarah started as a hairstylist at sixteen and went on to own a salon, where she worked with clients' hair every day. That experience set the standard for salonsolids: products that work in the shower, not only on paper.
Working with a chemist, she turned plant-based, organic ingredients into water-soluble granules and patented the result. Shampoo, conditioner and styler ship as compostable packets; you add the water.
Sarah still answers customer emails herself. Her aim is the same as in 2012: care products you can understand, in packaging that disappears.
Hair care is the foundation and stays first. In 2026 salonsolids added skin care: GLO, BRONZE and VEIL, each sold as a filled jar with a refill packet. More categories will follow the same rule: made to refill, with less to throw away.
