The first solid-to-liquid hair care, invented in 2012 by Sarah Balzotti McCoy, a Seattle stylist and salon owner. The patented, water-soluble granules become shampoo, conditioner or styler when you add water. Since 2026 salonsolids also makes skin care, sold in jars made to refill.

A bar is a solid you rub on wet hair. salonsolids granules dissolve completely, so you get a liquid shampoo, conditioner or styler that behaves like the ones you know. No soap, no residue, and you decide the strength.

Plant-based, organic ingredients and essential oils for scent. Full ingredient lists are on each product page. There are no sulfates or sulfate substitutes, no soap, no petrochemicals, no synthetic fragrance and no preservatives. Granules contain no water, so they do not need preserving.

The granules suit all hair types; the adjustments above are how you tune them. Start with Unscented if you are sensitive to essential oils. If you are not sure, the 2 oz packets or the Starter Bundle are the cheapest way to try.

Spoon 2 teaspoons of granules into the 2 oz glass jar (1 teaspoon for styler), add 2 oz of hot water or hot tea, and stir until the granules have fully dissolved. Use within a month. You can also skip the jar: rub about ¼ teaspoon of granules with water in your hands for a single wash.

A refill packet makes 9 oz, about a month of daily use, and is the size you can subscribe to. A 2 oz packet makes 2 oz, enough to try a scent or to travel with. The jar is a 2 oz glass jar with a bamboo spoon, for mixing and keeping your granules.

Yes. Mix with tea instead of water. Stir an oil into conditioner or styler: olive for dry or coarse hair, broccoli seed for fine hair, coconut for porous hair, jojoba for weightless moisture. Dilute conditioner for a leave-in, or mix conditioner and styler for a styling cream. The Customize page has the steps.

Choose "every month", "every 2 months" or "every 3 months" on a refill packet and we ship it on that schedule. Payment is taken on each renewal date and the refill ships after that.
